How to Cook Ribs in the Oven

by admin

Ribs are among the popular oven baked or grilled meats. Cooking ribs in the oven help make them tender and moisturized as compared to grilling it. Grilling ribs can take out the juiciness of the ribs. At the same time, grilling ribs will need a good weather to cook it. So if it’s a rainy or winter season, then you can’t help but cook your delicious ribs in the oven. Here is a guide that will help you learn how to cook ribs in the oven. Bon Appétit!

  1. First, choose a rack or ribs in the grocery. Remember that ribs have more bone and fat so it may be wise to double or even triple the pounds that you usually get for other ordinary meats. In fact, a hungry adult may consume about a pound of ribs if you don’t have other dishes or side dishes to complement it.

  2. Now, seasoning your ribs is what gives it that delicious or added flavor. There are a lot of seasonings that you can use. The basic seasonings you can sprinkle on your ribs are garlic, pepper, salt, and meat tenderizer. However, you can use many other spices and herbs like rosemary, paprika, turmeric, parsley, oregano, and many others. You can even add cheese if you like. It all depends on your taste.

  3. On the other hand, if you want to marinade your ribs, you can also go into that direction. Instead of seasoning your ribs, you can marinade them in commercially prepared marinades. Marinating your meat will help the ribs tenderize. At the same time, it will give moisture to your meat. You can use a lot of different marinades and even salad dressings are sometimes used. There’s teriyaki or barbecue marinade among many others.

  4. So once you’ve seasoned or marinated your ribs, it’s time to place them in your baking dish. You may use a baking pan or glass. But before you put those ribs in your baking pan, grab some heavy duty aluminum foil to cover the pan. It should be large enough to fold back and close the ribs inside the foil later on. So make sure that you leave a lot of excess along the edges.

  5. Now it’s time to place the ribs in the aluminum foil covered pan. Put some water, about one fourth inch. This will help keep your meat moist. At the same time, it will keep your pan and foil to scorch. You can also add vegetables to cook along with your meat. You can add carrots, potatoes, or onions in big chunks to surround your ribs.

  6. Now cover your ribs with the remaining edges of the foil like you’re creating a tent. Ensure the foil is loose enough not to press onto your meat during cooking. While doing this, preheat oven at 325 F. Then cook your ribs in the oven for about one hour. After that, open up the foil and put the ribs back in the oven now at 375 F. Cook for about 15 minutes more. Then, it’s eating time!

No offense but his is a lousy way to cook ribs. Good fall off the bone ribs have to be cooked much much longer 6 or more at a low temp. All the rest do the same except add vegetables. Before I serve mine I charcoal grill them at a high temp for about 7 min each side to give them an off the grill taste. The sauce is the boss, sometimes. I like a good dry rubbed rib now and then though.
