Our weather 10 years ago seems to have changed a lot from what we currently go through. We already experience strange weather patterns. Part of this abrupt climate change points to global warming. There are a number of contributors to this such as greenhouse gases, pollution, and the thinning of our ozone layer. As we slowly feel the effects of these, our future becomes really frightening for all of us. This is why there are a lot of people who are now going for environmental products nowadays. A number of stores now use paper or cloth bags instead of plastic bags. People do not, or at least minimize, use of products that contain harmful chemicals. Some retail stores introduce the use of fabric that is considered environmental friendly.
Big companies are now doing their share to save the earth by creating activities for their employees like tree planting, cleaning up shores, and many more. With the on going promotions and advertisements of popular people to go green, we have increased awareness on its importance more than ever. Even in schools, we were already taught how to recycle as part of our goal to save the environment for our future and our children’s future. But does recycling actually do anything good to us? Can we really feel its effects? To make things clearer for us, enumerated below are some importance of recycling.
-
Instead of throwing old materials right away, recycling can greatly contribute in the reduction of pollution in the environment. Wastage can actually release greenhouse gases and other harmful chemicals.
-
Reprocessing of used materials can significantly reduce the use of new raw materials which can help in the preservation of our natural resources.
-
If we always practice recycling, we greatly reduce our waste. We then have lesser problems regarding the disposal of our garbage. Also, this means minimizing air and water pollution.
-
Producing products from scratch involves great amount of energy. On the other hand, the process of recycling requires less amount of energy, which therefore acts as protection to our natural resources.
- We know for a fact that there are numerous landfills allocated for our garbage. Having too much waste collected from us can possibly fill up these landfills. If we continue to ignore reusing, we might end up seeing our surroundings converted to waste disposal landfills, which is definitely bad for the environment and for our health. Recycling can help save spaces in these landfills and prevents other areas from making our waste disposal landfills.
