Why is Education Important?

It is very common to hear that in order for people to live, the basic needs are food and shelter. But the way we see our world around us, these two are not enough anymore. We also need to feed our brain through education. Usually, our first teachers are our parents. Without them, we probably would not know how to walk, talk, eat, etc. We are then educated in schools, wherein knowledge is more or less presented as theories. It is up to us on how we use what we learn. But education still does not stop here. It is a life long process brought about by experience. And because a number of people think that experience is enough and it is said to be a good teacher, they disregard the importance of education in schools. Well in fact, going to school to learn is extremely significant and below are some of the reasons.why is education important Why is Education Important?

  1. Education is a way to gain knowledge. This knowledge is what you use in everyday life like how you interpret things, how you perceive life, and all other practical things. All these are not learned or developed through mere experience.
  2. Education brings discipline. Your parents also teach you good manners and right behavior but not everything can be taught at home. Even if values are already instilled in you, learning more about your culture and your nation encourages you to put into action those values and virtues you should be exemplifying. As education slowly leads you to be a civilized person, you become more mature and learn to make right decisions for a better future.
  3. Education opens career opportunities. Employers definitely want the best for their companies and in choosing employees, they obviously select those who are educated. They want people who can contribute and do good things for their companies. Room for errors, especially for well-known companies, is very small, if not, none at all. It is only through education where you can hone your skills and apply them correctly.
  4. Education paves the way to enlightenment. As you learn more and understand the things around you, you get explanations or it can also bring about more questions. But it is also through education where these questions can be answered. It avoids confusion. Knowing more things leads to confidence in making right decisions.
  5. As a bottom line, education brings brighter future for the entire nation. The educated can highly contribute to economic growth and promote socialism and equality. As long as the educated people use their knowledge for the good of everyone, they can surely bring wonders to the nation.
