The phrase ‘guitar’ originated from the very old Greek phrase known as ‘kithara’. Conventionally, this lyre was commonly used by Apollo, who was the music god. When categorized, the guitar falls under the class of the lute that consists of the entire sets of string instruments having necks, from mandolins to the ones having double-basses. These types of lyres generally have frames that give backup to the strings, rather than the necks. One of the most archaic existing string guitars were constructed in Italy by a man called Gaetano Vinaccia in the year 1779 and in a place called Naples. All the family members of Gaetano Vinaccia of the luthiers were the ones known for building up on the mandolins. These types of guitars have regularly been scrutinized and have never depicted any signs of alterations from the double-course types of guitars.
Customarily, all the presently available guitars were normally built of arrangements of quite a variety of woods and later on strung using guts of animals. Some guitars were made of late using either steel or nylon strings. These guitars were constructed and patched up by luthiers. Today, there are countless guitar brands available. A number of the commonly known ones include Gibson, PRS, Fender, Ibanez, Jackson, Dean, Martin, Schecter and Gretsch.
