History
A bibliography is a methodical listing of books or other literary works at the end of books and other written works. The listed items on bibliographies range from complete publications, independent publications and articles. The word bibliography is a derivative of a Greek word bibliographia, which literally means book writing. However, when used in its contextual form in English it is not concerned so much with book content but rather the contribution of certain book titles to a piece of literature.
Types of Bibliographies
An Enumerative bibliography presents a systematic listing of publications following a particular grouping. It is sometimes referred to as reference or compilative bibliography. An Analytical bibliography also known as a critical bibliography focuses on the in depth content of books and book production. 
Format
The content on standard bibliographies includes the name of the author, the title, publication date and publisher. When used in periodicals or journals the bibliographies normally contain the authors name, article title, title of the journal, volume and the publication date. Both the enumerative and analytical bibliographies are used in other media such as motion pictures, databases, websites, CD-ROMs and recordings. For readers the bibliography is an important resource that gives additional information that could assist in further reading or research.
