What Causes Fever?

Fever is one of the most common sicknesses that everyone experience every now and then. As a definition, fever is the raise in body temperature above normal. This occurs as a reaction to fight infections by helping the systems of the body work efficiently. These infections could be caused by virus or bacteria and such are unable to stand high temperature, which is why fever happens. Fever can be caused by minor infections, but usually high fever can possibly indicate extreme serious conditions. There are various symptoms of fever such as chills, vomiting, sweating, nausea, and many more. To know more about fever, below are some of its causes.

1. A common cause of fever among children and adults is colds. When sneezing, sore throat, or runny nose starts, we all know that colds will follow; but this does not mean that you will have fever. Having fever when you catch a cold does not happen all the time. But if it does, you should not panic. You can always consult a doctor to get proper medications for both fever and colds, especially if your fever lasts for more than 3 days.
2. Another common illness is influenza, also known as flu, which is more severe compared to colds. Fever is one of its symptoms including headache, weakness, exhaustion, and fatigue. It is an infection in the respiratory due to different viruses and to kill these, the body should adjust to higher temperature.
3. Measles was a rampant sickness before its vaccine was invented. One of its symptoms is having fever, which help fight those viruses. But like in any severe disease, a visit to the doctor is necessary for the right medication.
4. Whenever we eat, we usually would not know if the food is contaminated with bacteria or virus. If it does, chances are one can be food poisoned. Poisoning greatly depends on the tolerance of a person. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, abdominal cramps, and fever.
5. Having fever along with other complications such as sore throat, dry cough, chest pain, noisy or trouble breathing could possibly be acute bronchitis. It is the inflammation of the bronchi which leads to the lungs.
6. Chickenpox is a usual viral infection among children and adults as well. It may be more severe in infants, adults, and those with poor immune system. And similar to other illnesses, fever is also one of its symptoms.
