Climate
The two main seasons in Yemen are summer and winter. The temperature in the mountain area is relatively cold during winter. It is particularly cold at night and early morning. On the other hand, the temperature in the coastal area is relatively moderate. Summer in Yemen’s coastal area is hot and humid. There are also occasional rains during this season which can decrease the heat in the coastal area. In the mountain area, temperature during summer is moderate.
Clothing
When you travel to Yemen during the warmer months, it is recommended to bring loose and light clothes. Tops for both men and women should have sleeves, while bottoms should be able to cover the upper part of the legs. During the colder months, jackets should be part of your wardrobe.
Currency
Rial is the currency used by Yemen. Bank notes available are 1000s, 500s, 200s, 100s, 50s, 20s, 10s, 5s, and 1s. Rial coins in circulation are 10s, 5s, and 1s. Tourists can have their money exchanged in banks or other authorized money exchangers. As a tip, bring U.S. dollars since money exchangers give better rates if you exchange these to Rial.

Al-Raudha- If you are interested with nature and architectures, Al-Raudha should be part of your itinerary. Imam Gasim Mosque, architecture from the 17th century, can be found here. You will also see the interesting clay houses of the community. Al-Raudha is considered a garden city, as well.

Zabid- It is the former capital of Yemen. During the 9th Century, Arabia’s first university is located here. You will see the astonishing citadel and mosques of Zabid.

Al-Djanad Mosque- This is one of Islam’s oldest mosques. Al-Djanad was built when Prophet Mohamed still lives. This mosque is even made more special as it was patterned after Kaaba mosque in Mecca.

Djiblah- Djiblah is also a former capital of Yemen. It is also an old town, where the Queen Arwa Mosque is situated. Sightseeing of the old architectures of this thousand year old town is a must when you visit Yemen.
