With the high number of people looking for employment, creating an outstanding resume will set the person apart from the others. The resume should be able to get the attention of the person hiring and enable the resume owner be called for the interview. Therefore, the person writing the resume should spend a lot of time writing and polishing it.
Before writing the resume, one should clearly define the purpose intended for the resume. This includes the type of job or position being applied, the relevant skills required and the experiences needed. Once this has been taken care of, follow the steps below to write a good quality resume.
- Include the heading of the resume. The heading, which is the first part of the resume, normally contains the personal information of the individual. In the heading, the following information should be included.
- Full names of the individual.
- Contact details including phone number, email address, physical address and even website
- Create a job objective section after the heading. This normally includes the type of job the person is applying for. Inclusion of the job objective makes it easy for the person hiring to sort the various resumes. The job objective should be kept as simple as possible.
- Include the skill section. This section includes the relevant job skills acquired by the person. Make sure to write only relevant skills that are related to the job. Take time to write this section since the information contained here will determine whether the resume is accepted or rejected. The information written in this section should be true. Apart from using bullet points to list the relevant skills, use words or phrases that can catch the attention of the person hiring.
Education Background
- This part includes the educational institutions as well as the courses done by the person. If the position requires licenses, then list all the relevant licenses. Include the degree studied for, the qualification attained and the school where the degree was obtained.
Job Experience
- This section includes the work history of the person. Do not list only the companies worked for and the position held. To add more weight, include the accomplishments made while working in those positions. Include the job title, the company and the employment date.
Proofread the Resume
- The resume should not be sent, immediately it is written. Go through it and correct any spelling and grammar mistakes.
Before printing the resume, make sure to print the resume using high quality paper.
