in How To Use

There is a great feeling that comes with un-packaging a new camera and being able to take the very first shots well. Everyone desires to keep some memories and the cameras are the best way in which to capture such moments. It is therefore important to understand how to use a camera before clicking at it to make a shot. Below is a step-by-step procedure on how to use a normal manual camera.

  • The back of the camera can be opened by having the latch pressed down. The latch is usually found at the right side of the camera.
  • Select the film one desires and then ensure that it is loaded well onto the camera. Once this is done, the back side of the camera should then be closed firmly and then wind up the film on the spool and load the film. Close the back of the camera and wind the film onto the available spool until such a time that the frame counter found on the top left side of the camera can read the number one. This indicates that the loading was successful.
  • At the top side of the camera, one is able to set shutter speeds and this can also be done to the aperture that is found on the camera lens by the use of a hand held light or built in meter for one to be able to determine the appropriate settings.
  • If one intends to use a flash then slip it in to the hot shoe that is found at the upper side of the camera and then to make it fit securely turn the mount that is the bottom part of the flash. After that turn on the flash and then set a speed of 1/60th of a second of shutter speed.
  • Select an appropriate lens and then attach it by simply aligning the dot found on the body of the camera together with the dot that is at the lens base. There are certain cameras that come with lens release found just next to the lens. In this case, the lens should be turned until it is securely attached on the camera’s body.
  • Focusing can be done by looking through the part of the camera known as the viewfinder and adjusting the focus ring until an ideal image is seen.
  • Ensure that the image is framed and then press on the shutter release that can be found on the camera’s top right side for the picture to be taken.

The film should be rewound to the following frame and then rewound to the end before removing it and closing the back. After removing the film, take it to a professional to develop it and get the photos. Photo development should be done keenly to ensure the best pictures are obtained. The picture brightness, color and tone should be in harmony.
