One of the latest electronic gizmo around the world is the Apple iPod. Who would not want a classy and fashionable device which you could carry around to listen to tons of songs, to watch videos or movies, or to simply save large data? But isn’t annoying while you are just in the middle of your favorite song, your iPod freezes up? Well, just like any other electronic handy device, the iPod can also run into some technical glitches. So before you start panicking and rushing to the repair shop, here are a few tips on how to unfreeze an iPod.
- Check if a lock symbol appears on the display screen. If so, it means that the Hold switch is in the locked position. Slide the Hold switch to the unlocked position then check again if the symbol still appears.

- If step 1 did not fix the problem, you need to know the exact model of the iPod that you have. Unfreezing or resetting iPods vary per model.
- To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, toggle the Hold switch on and off. For about 6 to 10 seconds, press and hold the Menu and Select buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears on the display screen. Repeat if necessary. When pressing the Select button, make sure that you are not touching any part of the wheel. Also when pressing for the Menu button, click towards the outside of the wheel and not near the center. Put the iPod on a flat surface if you are having difficulty resetting it. If the iPod is still not working, connect it to the power adapter or to the computer.
- To reset an iPod with a Scroll Wheel, Touch Wheel and Dock Connector, press the Hold switch on and off. For about 6 to 10 seconds, press and hold the Play/ Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears on the display screen. Repeat when necessary. To make sure that you are not pressing any other parts of the wheel, you can use one finger to press the Center button and another finger of your other hand to press the Menu button. If the iPod is still not working, connect it to the power adapter or to the computer.
- Remember that some customized settings of your iPod may be lost when resetting. The good news is all your music and files are still saved.
