Soccer is another popular sport but it is mostly famous in the European countries. There are various soccer leagues all over the world which makes it more lovable. Soccer camps are growing in number making kids like the sport even more. So do you know how to play soccer or at least know how the sport works? You’ve come to the right place. Here you will learn how to play soccer and get to know the basics of the game.

In the game of soccer, you need to learn a couple of skills. One of which is to be able to kick a ball properly. Of course, that’s not the only thing you need to learn. According to soccer experts, you should be able to learn at least thirteen skills to be able to play soccer well. Don’t worry. It may be too scary to hear that much number of skills to learn but it’s not that hard when you get the grasp of it. These skills will come naturally as you practice and start learning how to play soccer. As you practice kicking the ball for power and accuracy, you will also get to learn passing and shooting skills. Just make sure that the game of soccer is something that you find fun and entertaining, and something that you truly like. Otherwise, without passion, you may not succeed in learning the sport. To be able to succeed as a soccer player, you should be able to work hard to learn how to play it.

Passing

To be able to play the game of soccer, you must learn how to pass the ball. This is probably the first thing you should be able to learn because if you can’t pass the ball, then you can’t play soccer. To be able to pass the ball, first learn how to do it using the inside of your foot. This is the most common way to pass the soccer ball. Over time, as you perfect this method and play soccer a couple of times, you will get to learn how to pass it using the outer side of your foot and then later on your head or your knees, basically any part except your hands. Never use your hands as it is not allowed. If you accidentally happen to touch the ball with your hands, then it will be called a hand ball. This means that the ball goes to your opponent and they get to have a free kick or chance to get the ball into their goal.

Shooting

Once you’re able to pass the ball, it’s time to aim that ball to the goal. It can be one of the funniest skills to learn because you’ll find your ball going in all directions if you’re just a beginner. You must be able to learn this skill because otherwise, you won’t be able to score. You should be able to learn how to kick that ball as powerful as you can and as accurate that it will reach the goal. You should practice making use both of your feet so you can shoot from all possible positions in the field. The most important thing that you start learning is to be able to kick the ball on target. It’s more important to hit the goal than to focus on kicking the ball with great power.

Dribbling

Like in basketball, soccer also has a term such as dribbling. But don’t get confused as the dribbling in soccer doesn’t make use of your hands. It still makes use of your feet. You direct the ball as you run towards the goal before you make that powerful kick.

Heading

Heading is as important as kicking. Sometimes, there are situations when you have to jump to be able to get to the ball. But since you can’t use your hands, you can use your head instead. Head the ball to pass to a teammate or to the goal.

Kicking

Of course kicking is very important to learn because it’s what you’ll do most of the time. You need to learn how to do free kick, indirect kick, penalty kick, goal kick, corner kick, bicycle or overhead kick and the instep or lofted kick.
