However, even before you begin the process of making the head board, you need to make sure that:
- You have all the tools and materials at hand.
- You have decided on the shape and size of the head board.
The instructions are easy to follow.
1.The very first thing when making the head board, is to collect all the tools and materials and placing them within reach.
2.It is imperative that you decide on the shape and size of the headboard which is impossible unless you first measure the width of the bed. The height depends on your preference.
3.You may purchase for the head board wood from the store and have it cut to your specifications. Rectangular boards are the simplest to make. For curvy head boards, you first have to trace the pattern onto the board before cutting it out with a jig saw. As the edges will be rough, sand paper may be used to smooth them down.
4.Next, the wood has to be covered with batting and foam. The best way of securing the foam to the wood is through the use of adhesive. Batting is placed over the foam and fastened with staples at the back of the frame.
5.You may now cover the head board with plain sheets. The sheets work as some form of lining for the decorative fabric that is placed on top of it. Staple the decorative fabric all round the head board. The lining fabric may then again be used to hide all the raw edges at the back of the board.
6.Finally, the legs may be attached on to the head board. By drilling holes on the legs it becomes possible to attach them on the bed frame. More over, it may also be possible to attach the headboard onto the wall behind the bed.
