Knitting is an exiting activity to do and one that brings a lot of satisfaction especially if one looks at the ball of yarn and how it is turned into a beautifully knitted garment. Although knitting may be perceived as being a hard task to accomplish successfully, simple instructions and practice, can ensure that one learns how well to knit.
- The fist step in the basic learning of how to sew is to make a slipping knot at the needle’s shaft. This becomes the first stitch.
- Use the left hand to hold this needle and the right hand can hold the other and this one controls yarn. Afterward make an insertion point that runs from the needle on the right starting from the front side to the front towards the back, then slipping into the knot and then below the needle on the left.
- With the needle held on the left hand, move the left fingers towards the brace of the needle on the right.
- Using the index finger on the right, pick some yarn up from the entire ball.
- Release the grip that is on the right hand from the needle then with the index finger, bring down the yarn below and then above the needle point on the right hand.
- The right fingers should then be returned to the needle on the right and then yarn drawn via the stitch that is in point with the needle on the right.
- Slide the needle point of on the left hand in the new stitch’s back and remove the needle on the right hand side.
- Gently pull on to the ball of yarn in such a way as to ensure that the stitch fits snuggly on the needle. At this point casting on has been done and two stitches are left on the left hand needle.
- Insert the point of the right needle from the front side to the back in the stitch that has just been made and below left needle. Repeat this stage until the 1st row is complete
- With the needle holding the stitches held on the left hand, make the first stitch as casting on.
- The right side index finger, should guide you to get the yarn below and over the point of the right needle.
- Draw the wool via the stitch that has the right hand needle point.
- Slide the loop to the left hand needle off and in such a way that a new stitch is fully on the right hand needle.
The process should be repeated until the first row is completed successfully.
