Chain link fences play the role of a protective installation for prevention of animals of people from entry into the house or garden. Before installing a chain link fence, it is important to obtain the zoning and building permits as well as ensure that the fence will meet the deed restrictions of the neighborhood. The underground utilities should be located and the property lines established. Some important tools that are useful for installing a chain link fence include:
- Tape measure
- Carpenter’s level
- Wire cutters
- Pliers

- Sledge hammer
- A pipe cutter or hacksaw
- Wheelbarrow, hoe and shovel
- Stakes and a strong string
The process of installing a chain link fence involves the following steps:
- Your property’s boundary lines should first be located before commencing with putting the stakes in the ground along the property line. A string should be stretched between the stakes.
- The holes for the post should be dug 8 inches wide and 18 to 30 inches deep. The sides of the hole should be vertical and not slope, but rather, be straight perfectly from the top to the bottom.
- The post’s ground line should be marked with chalk or crayon while making sure that the height of the terminal post is an additional two inches compared to the fabric height.
- The posts should be set in a concrete mixture that entails 4 parts of gravel, 2 parts of sand and 1 part of cement. The mixed solution should be fairly heavy because a lot of water may weaken the concrete and result in cracking. The post should be put in a central position in the hole.
- A carpenter’s level may be used for checking the plumb while ensuring that the crayon or chalk marks remain at ground level.
- The line posts should then be located and set after the hardening of the concrete footings. They should be stretched taut while positioning them on the posts’ outside face.
- The distance between the terminal; posts should b e measured in order to determine the precise distance between one line posts to the next.
- The fabric of the chain link should be unrolled on the ground and a tension bar slid into the chain-link’s first row while fastening this combination to the tension bands that are evenly spaced.
- Fittings, rail-end bands and post caps should all be added to the terminal posts then proceed to stand the fabric against the frame of the fence.
