- Decide on the type of rose to grow. The local florist will be able to give advice on the best type of roses. Although most rose flowers will be able to grow in any type of climate, there are other types of roses that will grow in certain conditions. Roses such as the Hybrid Teas, Rugosas, Modern Roses, Alba and Gallica will function well in cold conditions as opposed to warm or hot conditions.
- Choose a perfect spot that will enable the roses to grow well. Usually roses perform better if grown in areas with little sunlight.
- The next consideration one has to make is the type of soil to grow the roses. Roses do well in areas that have well drained soil. For the person to grow quality roses, the soil should have a PH level of about 5.5 – 7.0. To check the acidity of the soil, use a testing kit, which can be bought from any garden shop.
- After buying the roses ensure that they are unwrapped and planted as soon as possible. However, if they will not be planted right away keep them moist to prevent the roots from drying.
