How to Cook Tofu

As much as meat is consumed by a majority of the people there are some who prefer to eat anything vegetarian except red or meat, or anything gotten from animals for including eggs and even butter; these people are known as vegetarians. The storage of tofu is also important especially if someone is not willing to cook it immediately it has been bought. When storing the tofu, one is supposed to drain, rinse and submerge in fresh water in a clean sealed container. You can then store it in a refrigerator for a few days. Tofu contains a number of nutrients including iron, calcium, phosphorus, copper, manganese, selenium among others. Tofu is also rich in proteins and below is a method of preparing a dried fried marinated tofu meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 minced Shallot
  • 3 minced garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup of rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • A dash cayenne pepper

Preparation

All the ingredients are supposed to be stirred together and then soaked for about 1 to 2 hours in marinade before it starts cooking. However if one is decides on deep frying the tofu it is supposed to be marinated after the tofu is already fried. The tofu is then supposed to be pan fried for about 5 minutes on each of the sides and serve as a cutlet. Afterwards it is supposed to be cubed and sauté for approximately 7 minutes especially if it is stir fry. Bake it at 350 degrees for a minimum of 15 minutes by only turning it once. Also scramble it and deep fry until it gets golden brown. After this barbecue it for 4 to 5 minutes on each side.

Serving and Accompaniments

This meal can be served in a variety of styles with countless of assortments as well as accompaniments. Examples include one it can be served with stir fried vegetables over rice or some salad. This meal can also be served with potatoes and a veggie blend. When deep fried it can be served with Thai curry sauce over noodles. This meal is adequate to 4 to 6 people.
