You can use them fresh but you can also use peppers dried. At the same time, you can grind them or just use them as a whole. Sometimes, the same type of pepper is also named differently depending on what region it came from. Peppers can range from very mild to incendiary. The heat can vary greatly depending on the type of pepper you are using. Here are a couple of recipes to get you started with learning how to cook peppers.
Let’s first start with the slow-cooked sausage peppers. To make this dish, you will need the following ingredients.
- 1-2 pounds of Italian sweet sausage
- 1 jar favorite spaghetti sauce, 21 ounces
- 2 medium peppers (sweet, hot, or combo)
- Sandwich buns
Now, to being learning how to cook peppers, follow these easy steps.
- First cut the sausage in links.
- Let it boil until you no longer see any redness.
- Once boiled, pierce the sausage to let the fat drip out of the sausage.
- Drain the liquid.
- On the other hand, get your peppers and rinse them well.
- Remove the seeds of the peppers.
- Cut the peppers into narrow strips.
- In a crock pot, pour about half of the spaghetti sauce inside.
- Add in the peppers and the sausage.
- Next, pour the remaining sauce.
- Let it cook on high for about 4 hours.
- If you want to cook it more slowly, just use a low setting and cook for 8 hours.

Another great pepper dish that will help you learn how to cook peppers is the cooked Serrano pepper salsa. To make this, prepare the following ingredients.
- 1 onion
- 4 to 5 tomatoes
- 3 cloves garlic
- 10 serrano peppers
- Vegetable oil
- Salt and white pepper for seasoning
- 1/2 cup water
Now this dish is so easy to make. You only need to place all the ingredients above in a skillet except for the water. Just add enough oil to fry all the ingredients. Fry until everything is well cooked. Once done, remove from heat and mash them with a potato masher until it is already pureed. Place back on the stove to heat as you add the water. Simmer for about ten minutes and you’re done. Transfer to a serving dish for dips or salsas and let it cool before serving.
