If you want to cook something special for your love one or for a dinner get together with your family or friends, an oven pot roast can be one of your choices. Usually, this kind of dish would cost more in fine dining restaurants, but you can actually prepare this special dish at home. As you try to follow the simple steps below, you will see that cooking an oven pot roast is not that hard. This recipe can serve 6 to 8 persons.
Ingredients:
1 large cooking bag in 14 x 20 inch size
4 pounds of beef roast, preferably boneless
1 teaspoon of bouillon (instant beef)
3 medium sized carrots, cut in quarters
3 stalks of celery, chopped in 1 inch
½ cup of flour
1 medium sized green bell pepper, chopped in 1 inch
2 medium sized onions, cut in quarters
¼ teaspoon of pepper
6 to 8 pieces of potatoes, cut in quarters
1 teaspoon of salt
1 can of 8 ounce tomato sauce
½ cup of water
Procedure:
- Before starting to do anything, preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
- Pour the half cup flour in to the large cooking bag and shake it.
- Get a 13 x 9 x 2 baking pan and place it in. Then, roll the top portion of the bag downwards.
- One by one add the following ingredients: 8 oz tomato sauce, ½ cup of water, a teaspoon of beef bouillon, a teaspoon of salt and ¼ teaspoon of pepper.
- To blend in the ingredients, the trick is to gently squeeze the bag.
- Next, you can start taking out the fats of the beef roast. Once done, place it also inside the bag.
- You can then start peeling the carrots and cut it in quarters.
- Also, skin the 2 medium sized onions and chop it in quarters.
- Add the carrots and onions to the bag, together with the other ingredients namely celery, potatoes and green bell pepper.
- To ensure that the ingredients are coated with sauce, turn the bag and close it with a tie. On the top of the bag, create slits that are about 6 ½ inch long.
- You are then set to bake your pot roast. Place it in the oven for about 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours and 15 minutes, or until the beef roast becomes tender.
