How to Cook Fish

Introduction

Fish is considered as white meat differentiating it to other meats like beef meat which are classified as red meat. Fish are mostly known to be eaten at restaurants rather than at home and this is due to the preparation that it is taken through. Fish adds a lot of nutrients in the body with the fats that fish contain, they can prevent heart diseases as well as strokes. There are different types of fish in the market, they include salmon, mackerel, tuna, tilapia as well as fish fillets. Apart from being nutritious fish is also delicious and cooks quickly with ease. There are several ways of making a good fish meal as well as many different varieties one can eat a fish dish. The traditional ways of preparing fish are the most common ones new methods are coming up daily that can also be used. When buying fish one should make sure the fish smells fresh. If one is not going to cook immediately it should be stored in refrigerator. One can also decide to marinate the fish to add flavor. Fish can either be baked, fried, poached, roasted or broiled. Fish with tomato, garlic, lemon and onion

 

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs fish fillets ( should be thawed if frozen)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 chopped green onions
  • 1 chopped avocado
  • 2 cups chopped tomatoes
  • A half cup of herbed vinaigrette salad dressing

Preparation

Take a medium sized bowl and combine the tomatoes, avocadoes and the salad dressing. The bowl with this combination is then supposed to be refrigerated. Prepare the heat grill and leave it for some time to warm up. Oil grill the rack and then place the fish on the grill and make sure it is 4 to 6” from the medium heat. Also brush it more with more olive oil. Grill the fish for 4 to 8 minutes and make sure you turn the fish at least once until the fish flakes easily with a fork and it is opaque. Alternatively one can broil fish 4 to 6″ from the source of heat for about 10 minutes per inch of the fish thickness until the fish flakes. Make sure to confirm before removing from heat source.

 

Serving and Accompaniments

This meal can serve 6 to 8 people. The meal can also be accompanied with refrigerated sauce.
