There are many ways on how to cook beef. There’s braising, boiling, frying, and so many others. Beef is among the popular main dishes people serve for lunch or dinner. Some newbie cooks however, may find it hard to cook beef. Some tend to overcook it, making the meat tough. If you’d like to learn how to do it the right way, then you’ve come to the right place. Here, you’ll get tips on how to cook beef. Let’s take a look at the different methods on how to cook beef.

  1. Braising beef is a popular dish that is perfect for tough cuts such as pot roast, ribs, rump, or beef shanks. If you have such tough beef cuts, braising is the best way to cook them. Braising is cooking the meat slowly such that it breaks down the collagen. It makes the beef so tender that it feels like gelatin. However, the key to braising is to not fully submerge your meat in the liquid. At the same time, you shouldn’t let the liquid level drop too low. Else, it’s already baking the beef which might not give you good results for tough meats. Also, make sure that you brown your meat on all sides just before you braise it. This will add flavor and color to your meat.

  2. Another way to cook beef is to roast it. Make sure that you use a wire rack that won’t let your meat sink in its own juices. It will make that flavorful crust on your roast beef. Don’t remove the fat and bones while you roast them in the oven. It protects the meat during roasting. You can remove them afterwards. When your roast beef is done, make sure to carve across the grain to get the maximum tenderness.

  3. Broiling is another way to cook beef. You’ll notice that most of the ovens now have broiling features. The key to broiling is the distance of the meat from the broiling element. If you want it slowly cooked, then lower your racks as needed. Make sure that when you flip your meat, make use of tongs or spatula. Don’t pierce with a fork to avoid losing the delicious juices of your beef.

  4. Another way to cook your beef is by stewing. Stew dishes are pretty popular. It’s a great dish to serve your family because it’s already complete with all the vegetables you’ll need. If you’re cooking your beef and it got too salty, just add some potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, or carrots to balance it out. All you need to do is to cut your meat evenly and brown them first before stewing.

There are many other ways to cook beef like stir-frying and marinating. Just make sure that when you have a recipe in mind, make sure that you get the right cut of beef. Check the labels in your meat counter and you’ll notice it already marks the meats according to the method of cooking.
