How to Cook Baby Carrots

Cooking baby carrots is just like cooking your normal carrots. You can add them to your favorite dishes. You can stir fry them. You can add them to stew dishes. You can steam them. You can simply chop them and add them with corn as a side dish. You can add them to your favorite soups and so much more. There are so many things you can do with baby carrots just like how you would cook a regular sized carrot. So what are the different ways to cook them? If you want to nibble on baby carrots as a snack or as a side dish, here’s the most basic way to cook baby carrots. All you need are the following ingredients:

  1. 1 ½ lbs of baby carrots

  2. 2 tbsp butter, cut into cubes

  3. 1 tbsp sugar

  4. 1 tsp of salt

Now let’s begin learning how to cook baby carrots. In a pot, combine the baby carrots, butter, sugar, and salt. Add in about half an inch of water and bring to a boil. Once it boils, cover the pan and reduce the heat. Simmer the carrots for about 8 minutes. Afterwards, remove the cover and raise the heat once more to medium high. Continue cooking until water is reduced. This will take a couple of minutes. Then, turn the carrots in the sauce and season to taste. Now, it’s time to try your baby carrots.

Now if you’d like to use carrots for stir fry vegetables, you can do that too. All you need to prepare are your favorite vegetables. You can use broccoli, celery, mushrooms, red and green bell peppers, onions, or even radish. Just slice them to bite size pieces before starting to cook. On the other hand, prepare some garlic, onions, and you can even add pieces of meat. You can add very thin strips of beef or chicken pieces. You can also opt for seafood like shrimp. You can even use ground beef if you like. You can prepare hard boiled eggs for garnishing later on. At the same time, prepare some oyster sauce, soy sauce, salt and pepper to taste. In a wok sauté the garlic and onions. Then, add the rest of the vegetables one by one starting with your baby carrots and adding the broccoli last. Do not overcook the vegetables. Instead, make sure to retain its crispiness and color. If you are adding meats, shrimps, or poultry, remove the vegetables from the pan. Now, stir fry the meat, shrimp, or chicken until it is almost done. Before it is completely cooked, put back the vegetables. Add salt and pepper to taste. Next, add a bit of soy sauce according to your liking then add a tablespoon of oyster sauce. Mix well for a couple of minutes and you are ready to serve!
