How to Control Obesity

Obesity is a disease that results from excess accumulation of fats in the body to the extent that the health of a person can be affected in a negative way. Obesity can be controlled both in adults and in children in several ways. In children, it is possible to control obesity by limiting the amount of time they spend in watching TV.

Controlling Childhood Obesity

Children should be allowed to watch TV for a maximum of two hours per day. Watching TV for a long time can make them become overweight because they are not physically active. Children should also be involved in household chores like making their beds, car washing, gardening and mowing the lawn. This will enable them to exercise their bodies and thus trigger the conversion of excess fats in their bodies into fatty acids.Obesity control How to Control Obesity

Physical Activity

Adults who stay home as opposed to having a full time job should reduce the number of hours spent in front of the TV. Both adults and children should take part in more physically active chores or games to exercise and relax their bodies. Physical exercise can be in the form of walking instead of driving for short distances. Jogging and cycling can also be part of physical exercise. This will enable burning of excess fats thus preventing them from accumulating in the body. Participating in games such as football, tennis, basketball and the like is an excellent way to perform physical activity that can help prevent one from becoming obese.

Diet

To control obesity one is supposed to take a diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables and grains. This will foster proper digestion and break down foods that may be hard to digest. When food is properly broken down, it means that its absorption into the blood stream will also be easy thus preventing accumulation of fats. Avoiding foods rich in fats, excess calories and sugar can also control obesity. One should take several servings of fruit daily in their meals.

Obesity can also be prevented by consuming fewer calories per day. The quantity and frequency of fast food eaten should also be limited to about once or a maximum of twice a week. This is because fast food is usually fried with excess fat and this can make one become obese if taken on a frequent basis. All the above will reduce the accumulation of excess fats in the body thus controlling obesity.
