A catapult is a mechanical device used in the medieval and ancient times. It is non-handheld and is used to throw an 
object at a far distance without the use of any explosives.
In order to construct a catapult, the following materials are required -

3 pieces of wood measuring roughly 12 inches though longer ones could be used if a bigger structure is needed.

8 sticks measuring about 6 inches with 2 of the sticks cut at a 45 degree angle at the edge forming a shape like a roof.

Nails or screws
-
Strong glue
-
One flexible strip of rubber.

2 hooks
-
A slim pole about the size of the pieces of wood.

A container to hold the projectiles being launched.
The making of the catapult

Once the materials have all been gathered the assembling process can now begin using the following instructions;

Put one of the longer pieces of wood on one of its sides and nail one of the sticks with an angle of 45 degrees making an angle of 45 degrees towards the stick.

One uncut stick is connected to the initial long stick and the second 45 degree angle stick making a shape like the letter A.

Repeat the same process to come up with a similar structure
The Frame of the Catapult

The two structures in the above stage are connected and the sticks with the 45 degree angles in the inner. The shorter pieces are glued on each end of the longer sticks.

The two sticks with a 45 degree angles are also joined together and a piece of wood is fastened over them. The two shorter upright sticks are fastened together by gluing the last portion of the smaller sticks to both longer sticks.
The launcher

A hole is made on the last portion of the longer sticks. It should be about three inches from the end.

Fix one of the hooks to the opposite end of the stick.

Attach a container using glue to the stick’s end just before the location of the hook.

The launcher can then be attached to the frame. This is done by inserting the metal rod inside the hole made earlier on.

The metal rod is then connected to the vertical stick

Fix another hook on the base of the launcher
To launch an object, tie the rubber to the hook on the base, stretch it and fasten it to the other hook. When it is let go the object is catapulted.
