Anyone who has ever cleaned a bathroom floor will know that wall to wall carpeting has no place in that room. Hard flooring is so much more hygienic and easy to clean. But it means that bath rugs are an absolute necessity. They avoid your feet getting cold and the puddles gathering on the floor when you step out of your bath or shower and they add a level of comfort to the floor you really need. And hygiene is not a problem. Bath rugs can be popped into the washing machine – every day if required.
If you have a fairly neutral bathroom, you are free to pick any color rug but a red bath rug will make your bathroom look fantastic especially if the room is plain white. Red adds drama and impact and provides the pizazz that a white bathroom lacks. Of course, these days, every interior designer will tell you, that there is no possible color for bathrooms other than white. So red bath rugs are the ideal solution to counteract the stark effect of the white.
The color of your rug can also be the starting point for how you decorate your bathroom. To make your bathroom look good, don’t just add a red rug. Add some accessories which incorporate the same red. If you have chosen a bright scarlet red then a few (silk) poppies would look good in a white vase or hang a red print on the walls and don’t forget to buy some coordinating towels and face cloths which you can display on shelves in your room or in a white basket. If you have used a burgundy red color rug rather than bright red then you might like to have a selection of towels in burgundy, gray and white and a few prints on the walls in black frames which will give an entirely different yet just as attractive color scheme.
